Awareness by definition is knowledge or perception of a situation or fact. Some synonyms are consciousness, recognition, realization, understanding, and appreciation. In my own words, it is being conscious of something in the present moment. My mentor Lynn Simonson taught me “awareness is the key to change.” I used to repeat that statement over and over again and realized that I love awareness however I was resistant to the change part. Anyone else, resistant to change!?
Being a dancer my whole life and striving to be “perfect” or get yelled at, the resistance I had in my body led to injuries on all levels, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. I had no idea growing up that tension in the body, which is resistance, would lead me to so many heavy situations and pain. As I grew up, the fear inside of me and/or the resistance was installed so deeply on my computer (my brain), the files were very hard to delete. Another way to look at this, is that the re-patterning of my neuro- pathways were challenging.
After experiencing a brain injury being knocked out backstage performing as a Radio City Rockette, I learned there are two operating systems our life can live from. There is operation love and operation fear. Not to get to into the brain, however this is extremely fascinating to me. The hippocampus is a part of the limbic system associated with memory, emotions, and motivation. It is mainly the storage unit free of charge for our memories. Just like a computer, we are an operating system and made of the finest structure. If you have no space, you are unable to download any more data. Unlike a computer, we are unable to just click delete on a memory file. Re-patterning takes time, patience, and a lot of laughter and is a very important part of our life as we embark on creating the life we want. If you are ever wondering why things have been the same for you, you still have the same anxiety or the same reaction behavior, this is why. We are creating patterns that start and make up our computer between the ages of 1-7.

What I have learned in my life so far, is that if I want to change the way I operate, I must change the way I am thinking hence go directly to how my brain is operating. I always look at my patterns first and then choose a new pattern so I am able to operate from love instead of fear.
