Good Morning from Olmedo, Italy, a beautiful quaint town Sardinia, Italy, a place I used to live.
In 2011, God called me to travel to Sardinia to teach dance and coach women into their self-confidence. A former ballet teacher of mine Miss Lori from DavidDeMarie dance studio invited me to her home and dance studio in this beautiful, magical, and healing place. At that time, I had been cut from The Radio City Rockettes, which would have been my 4th season. Thank YOU for NOT hiring me!
LET ME REWIND….
Prior to my soul calling to Sardinia, I had been living in New York City. Living in the big apple, auditioning as a dancer, and paying $1600 for a one-bedroom apartment in Sunnyside, NY, I thought I was living the life! They tell you when you make it in NY, you have made it, well, “make what”!? I didn’t have that question at the time. So, I “made it. ” I so called “made it,” performing as a Radio City Rockette.
Thinking that being hired as a Rockette, my happiness would increase and I would love myself more. WRONG! LESSON #1 “Nothing on the outside will create joy on the inside.”
My journey as a Rockette began in 2008 and I graced the stage near my hometown Batavia NY, performing at Shea’s. My Grandmother took me to Shea’s when I was 9 years old to see The Nutcracker and I knew someday I’d be dancing up there.
Opening night, I had 60 family members and friends applauding from the first 3 rows. It was a dream comes true! The dream was not becoming the Rockette; the dream was being able to have my entire family with me sharing this experience. LESSON #2 “Family is a core value.” It was a wonderful first season!
Right now, I am swinging in wooden rocker on a balcony in Olmedo, Italy writing this and the fresh air is blowing against my face as my blonde wavy hair is giving you a lioness look. Every time I am here in this magical place, I am reminded of a few things:
1. People are far more of a greater gift than any technology device.
2. Eating food grown in someone’s backyard and drinking wine without sulfates, the body LOVES and can digest. Quality FOOD always wins, especially when everyone is speaking Italian and there is no cell service at the table.
3. Reading is SUPER important for our brain and soul. I will share an excerpt from this morning, “When we align our thoughts, emotions, and actions with the highest part of ourselves, we are filled with enthusiasm, purpose, and, meaning. We have no memory of fear. We are joyously and intimately engaged with our world. This is the experience of authentic power.” The Seat of the Soul, Gary Zukav
As I begin to remember these lessons being in Sardinia again, I will also begin this authentic power I know I have inside of me to live a life in presence, passion, and purpose. To me, that is the life I am choosing right now.
I wish you a beautiful blessed day!
